What Sells Most — and Why It Matters

Korean car auctions process thousands of vehicles every month across the major auction houses: Hyundai Glovis, AJ Sellcar, SK Auction, and Lotte Auto Auction. (K Car Auction data is not included in this month's analysis due to data access timing.) If you are sourcing Korean used cars for export — whether to the GCC, Africa, or other markets — knowing which models move the most tells you what is available, what is liquid, and where competition will be highest.

These are also the models where our 451-car price study found consistent 10–25% savings versus retail, so high volume means both better selection and proven value.

Below are the most-traded models at each auction house over the last 30 days. This is real transaction data from March 2026 — not estimates or dealer anecdotes. All prices in 만원 (10,000 KRW; 1만원 ≈ $6.78 USD).

Hyundai Glovis

Glovis is Korea's largest auto auction operator, handling the largest share of total auction volume nationwide. It processes the highest number of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles, making it the default starting point for most buyers.

10Carnival KA4 9-seat Diesel Prestige282,1181,445–2,800

The Glovis top 10 is dominated by budget and mid-range models. The Grandeur HG and Avante AD lead in pure volume — these are older-generation Hyundai sedans that flood the used market as corporate and rental fleets cycle out. The Morning and Spark are Korea's best-selling city cars, and their high turnover at auction reflects consistent retail demand.

The QM6 (Renault Korea Motors, formerly Renault Samsung) at rank 3 is notable — it is one of the few non-Hyundai/Kia models that consistently appears in high volumes at Glovis. The Carnival KA4 rounds out the list as the lone premium-priced entry, reflecting the minivan's enormous popularity in Korea.

Average prices at Glovis skew lower than other houses because of this volume mix. Most of the top sellers fall in the 200–700만원 range, making Glovis the go-to house for budget inventory sourcing.

AJ Sellcar

AJ Sellcar is the second-largest auction house in Korea, known for a more diverse vehicle mix that includes both consumer cars and commercial vehicles.

9Bongo3 1-ton Cargo Truck King Cab18522280–1,000
10All New Morning (JA) Luxury18635460–830

AJ's top 10 shows a wider price spread than Glovis. The Genesis G80 at rank 2 is the standout — averaging ~$23,155 USD with a range stretching up to ~$38,685 USD. This makes AJ a key venue for premium and luxury vehicle sourcing.

The Carnival appears twice (Prestige and Noblesse trims), reinforcing its status as Korea's most in-demand auction vehicle. The K5 LPI (LPG-powered) is popular among taxi operators and fleet buyers who value its low fuel costs.

AJ is also notable for commercial vehicle presence. The Bongo3 cargo truck at rank 9 is a workhorse of Korean small businesses, and AJ consistently moves more commercial inventory than other houses. If you are sourcing trucks or vans alongside passenger cars, AJ is worth watching.

SK Auction

SK Auction handles smaller volumes than Glovis or AJ, but the vehicles that pass through tend to be newer and higher in value. SK sources many of its cars through SK Networks' dealer and rental partnerships, which skews the inventory toward recent model years.

10Sonata (DN8) Hybrid 2.0 HEV Premium Plus81,6311,080–2,040

Two things stand out immediately at SK. First, the hybrid presence: the Avante HEV, Sonata HEV Modern, and Sonata HEV Premium Plus all appear in the top 10. No other auction house has this concentration of hybrid vehicles. For buyers targeting fuel-efficient or eco-friendly inventory for export markets, SK is the place to look.

Second, average prices are significantly higher across the board. The cheapest model in SK's top 10 (Avante HEV at 1,273만원) costs more than the most expensive model in Glovis's top 10 outside of the Carnival. This reflects SK's newer inventory — most of these are current-generation models (CN7 Avante, DN8 Sonata, RG3 G80).

The Genesis G80 and Grandeur IG round out the premium segment, while the Carnival KA4 maintains its cross-auction dominance at rank 5.

Lotte Auto Auction

Lotte Auto Auction is the newest of the four major houses and has been growing its market share steadily. It has carved out a niche with a strong presence in electric and hybrid vehicles.

10The New Grandeur (G) 2.5 Premium81,7231,470–2,110

Lotte's most distinctive feature is its EV and hybrid inventory. The Niro EV, Niro Hybrid, Ioniq 5, and K8 Hybrid all appear in the top 10 — that is four electrified vehicles out of ten. No other auction house comes close to this ratio.

The Ioniq 5 at rank 6 is particularly interesting for exporters. Hyundai's flagship EV is in high demand globally, and auction prices (averaging ~$14,350 USD) represent significant savings versus retail. The Niro EV at ~$9,975 USD is another strong export candidate.

The Avante leads volume at Lotte just as it does elsewhere, and the Genesis G80 continues its pattern of appearing across multiple houses. The Carnival again takes two spots (Prestige and Noblesse), and the K8 Hybrid adds a premium sedan option that does not appear at other houses.

Cross-Auction Trends

Looking across all four auction houses, several patterns emerge from the March 2026 data:

The Carnival KA4 is Korea's most popular auction vehicle. It appears in the top 10 at all four houses — the only model to do so. Combining both Prestige and Noblesse trims, total Carnival volume across houses exceeds 100 units per month. Prices range from 1,445만원 at the low end (Glovis) to 3,230만원 at the high end (AJ Noblesse). If you are sourcing Carnivals, you have options at every auction house.

The Avante is a consistent volume leader. Different generations appear across houses — older AD and MD at Glovis, current CN7 at AJ, SK, and Lotte. Total Avante volume across all houses is the highest of any nameplate. It is the workhorse of Korean auction inventory.

The Genesis G80 is increasingly popular. It appears at AJ (rank 2), SK (rank 3), and Lotte (rank 2). Average prices range from 2,947만원 to 3,418만원, making it the most expensive high-volume model at auction. Its presence at three of four houses signals strong supply as early adopters trade up to newer models.

EV and hybrid presence is growing. SK features three hybrid models in its top 10 (Avante HEV, two Sonata HEV trims). Lotte goes further with four electrified vehicles (Niro EV, Niro Hybrid, Ioniq 5, K8 Hybrid). This trend will accelerate as Korea's EV fleet ages and more electric vehicles enter the used market.

Budget models dominate at Glovis and AJ by volume. Morning, Ray, and Spark are consistent top sellers at Glovis, while AJ moves Morning and commercial vehicles like the Bongo3. If you need high-volume, low-cost inventory, these two houses deliver.
